Hardware Engineering Manager - Storage Systems

Job Summary:
Hardware manager responsible for development and support of world-class disk enclosures and enclosure electronics. Focus will include both disk enclosures and various controller boards enabling Enterprise storage systems.
At NetApp, you will be the management leader of the technical team that is chartered to develop Enterprise class storage systems. You will be responsible for managing all phases of product development including architecture, documentation, prototyping, validation, and support. You will work with product marketing, software development, manufacturing, customer support and external vendors. You will manage a small team of direct reports and direct a larger team of technical professionals.

Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of technical project management experience leading projects in
the areas of storage systems, servers or embedded systems.
- Candidate must have a demonstrated record of delivering high technology products
and must be familiar with all aspects of modern high-speed system design.
- Areas of familiarity include storage systems, microprocessors, I/O systems,
packaging, power supplies, and cooling.
- Must have excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Must be able to build and manage a team of technical professionals for both
accomplishment and development (professional and personal).
- Must be able to plan and organize projects including budget and resources
- Must be able to provide technical leadership at the functional level and work in a
cross-functional environment through influence and reason

Education and Experience
Minimum BS EE or equivalent experience and 3 years of technical project management experience leading projects in the areas of storage systems, servers or embedded systems.
- Ideal candidate would have MS EE; 5 years experience as an individual contributor in storage system, server or embedded system design working with various I/O types, substantial experience working with external design level partners/vendors (not just component vendors); and 5 years of technical management experience leading successful high tech product development.
