Job Summary:
As a Manager of NFS QA Engineering, you will manage professional level Engineers within the function. You will manage a group of Engineers focused on functional testing of NetApp’s NFS Server product. The NFS QA team is focused on discovering defects in the NFS Server software through the execution of systematic tests plans and procedures. Working closely with the development teams, this team plays a crucial role in being able to ship a highly reliable product. The team develop, modify, and execute software test plans; analyze and write test standards and procedures; maintain documentation of results; and consult with development Engineers in resolution of problems. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. You will be working across the organization to ensure that system test, functional stress & scalability, nightly test, and the scenario test organization are building and enhancing test procedures/framework that add to the functional testing performed by this group of Engineers
Essential Functions:
- A major part of your responsibility will be to provide direction and supervision to the team of Engineers responsible for:
- Gathering test requirements
- Developing, implementing and executing test plans
- Test scripts
- Test reports
- Test summaries
- Test automation
- Reliability
- Functional Performance Analysis
- Defect tracking and analysis
- Develop and implement new projects, policies and procedures for the department(s); and ensure that project goals are met.
- Develop an annual budget collaboratively with senior management.
- Utilize previously acquired technical experience to become actively involved in day to-day projects to meet schedules and resolve problems.
- Take responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.
Job Requirements:
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
- A clear understanding of the product development cycle, technical requirements, and project management.
- A strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices.
- Previous experience delivering Protocol level products
- Client/Server implementation
- C/C++
- Unix Kernel or Windows background
- Experience in analyzing network traces
- Experience in software test planning, documentation and process improvement.
- Experience in building/verifying high scalable systems
- Experience with various clients & OS’es
- Experience with developing budgets and predicting project costs.
- A demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees.

Education and Experience
- A minimum of 8 years of experience as an individual contributor and 3 to 5 years as a people manager is required.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects is required.
